  • Desk-based appraisals and assessments, to determine the archaeological potential of a site or area;
  • the identification of known and unknown archaeological sites;
  • archaeological and architectural surveys of upstanding or buried monuments and structures;
  • the survey, assessment and interpretation of historic landscapes;
  • providing advice on, and preparing plans for, the management of historic landscapes, buildings and archaeological monuments;
  • providing advice and specifications for the conservation, repair, restoration and consolidation of historic buildings and archaeological sites;
  • small-scale intrusive archaeological investigations;
  • the organisation and management of large-scale archaeological projects;
  • the production of archaeological specifications and written schemes of investigations for all types of archaeological investigation;
  • providing independent advice and liaison;
  • the preparation of Environmental Statements and Assessments, and Conservation and Management Plans;
  • undertaking community archaeology projects, and disseminating information through publication, public lectures and outreach services.
